More about us and the work we do

The beginning

Around 1971 a group of Guest House owners and Self Catering providers came together with the desire to promote the local amenities better for Visitors and so the St Davids Peninsula Tourist Association came into existence. With membership growing, it was decided to produce a Broad Sheet with useful information for the visitor.

Advertising: The Association pays for the distribution of the Broad Sheet brochures throughout Wales and also pays the polylope and postage costs of copies sent by the Tourist Information Centre at Oriel Y Parc, St Davids to web site and telephone enquirers.
The Association advertises in The Pembrokeshire Guide and sponsors a concert at the St Davids Cathedral Festival with an entry in the Festival Programme.

Web Site: The Association promotes the web site with a maximum daily advertising budget on Google. The web site further enjoys a high 'natural search' listing on Google and with many other search engines. For the month of July 2009, 7,719 unique visitors visited www.stdavidsinfo.org.uk  which had close to 1000 'page impressions' per day. This represents a year on year increase of some 30%.
* Businesses which apply to join the Association too late for inclusion in the following year's broadsheet, i.e. after the renewal cut off of 30th June each year, may become Temporary Web Members for that forthcoming year, but must become full members after that if they wish to remain in the Association and on the website.

Web Hosting: We are also pleased to be able to offer members, fast, quality and value-for-money web-hosting with e-mail facilities for your web site at a cost of just £10 per year. Currently 5 web sites are being hosted. This enables you to maintain your web space (if you wish) and to get web site statistics about visitors to your web site. These web site statistics greatly help you to market your business or service better.
